Ocean Crawler, where elegance meets resilience

It is always exciting discovering a new watch brand, or should I say, a new watch brand to me. Since I am into diving watches, one such recent discovery has been the micro-brand, Ocean Crawler Watch Co., from the good ole US of A.

For those of you that are hearing about Ocean Crawler Watch Co. for the very first time, here is my take on this micro-brand:

Ocean Crawler is an American watchmaking company that crafts self-winding and automatic mechanical watches with a nostalgic sophistication, designed for modern adventurers with active lifestyles. Their high-end watches are the epitome of reliability, durability, accuracy, and style, built to be enjoyed in any situation. Each Ocean Crawler watch undergoes ten rigorous shock tests, including the extreme high-impact hammer test, which subjects the watch to an incredible 6,000 G—hundreds of times more force than a car crash. Despite this, their watches remain unscathed and perfectly accurate. Every limited-edition design carries a unique character, a testament to the brand’s distinctive vision that continues to inspire every new model they create.

I hope that captures it and provides some insights into this brand. However, there is much more to Ocean Crawler Watch Co. than a few succinct words and rigorous testing of their watches.

Core Diver

Once you starting browsing their range, you’ll notice that their creations have a unique and distinct design, obviously geared towards the diver watch style, with most timepieces incorporating sea creatures and/or sea gods from Roman/Greek mythology, beautifully and tastefully captured on the dial and caseback.

Ocean Crawler’s model range has something for everyone, from their Champion Diver, Bolt, Core Diver, to the Great Lakes and WaveMaker, each one is unique with a number of offerings to tickle your fancy.

Choosing my very first Ocean Crawler watch proved way more difficult than I thought, as there were at least three candidates that caught my eye; the Neptune – Black – Prototype, Great Lakes Kraken and the Neptune Vs Leviathan based on their Champion Diver case.

Neptune – Black – Prototype
Great Lakes Kraken
Neptune Vs Leviathan Ceramic-Enamel Dial

After plenty of deliberation and swapping watches several times in my virtual shopping cart, I settled on the Limited Edition Neptune Vs Leviathan. I reckon I would have been quite satisfied with any from this bunch, but the hand-crafted ceramic-enamel dial, the Sellita SW200-1 movement, the water resistance to 2000 feet (that’s 600 meters!!), the 4.50mm thick domed sapphire crystal glass and the stunning custom purple stingray strap (and orange fitted strap) was enough to push the Leviathan to the top of the list! Now the agonising wait begins, as the Neptune Vs Leviathan doesn’t start shipping till July 26th! Maybe I should get another Ocean Crawler in the meantime………..

I reckon this is the start of a great relationship with the brand and I look forward to adding more Ocean Crawler Watch Co. watches to my collection.
