I’ll admit it – I went back and forth on this one.

A luxury smartwatch?
A niche F1 edition?
Something that could theoretically age faster than a mechanical piece?

And yet… here we are.

It arrived in under 24 hours, in typical TAG Heuer fashion, and the unboxing immediately reminded me that this wasn’t just another gadget. The co-branded F1 packaging sets the tone straight away. This is not a generic smartwatch with a logo slapped on – it’s very intentionally positioned as part of the Formula 1 ecosystem.

The Surprise: The Strap

Stock photos didn’t prepare me for this.

The carbon-style strap with red stitching is far more supple and comfortable than I imagined. No stiffness. No break-in required. It sits flat and secure, and it genuinely feels premium – not “tech accessory” premium, but watch-brand premium.

That matters.

The Bezel Detail Is Peak F1 Nerd Energy

FP1, FP2, FP3.
Q1, Q2, Q3.
GP.

That alone tells you who this watch is for.

It’s subtle enough that non-F1 fans won’t care, but if you follow the sport, it immediately makes you smile.

Why I Bought It

This wasn’t a logical purchase. It was an emotional one.

With TAG Heuer back as the Official Timepiece of Formula 1, this feels like a moment piece – a convergence of motorsport heritage and modern wearable tech.

Could the app ecosystem evolve?
Could support change in a few years?
Sure.

But even if the F1-specific features disappeared tomorrow, I’d still wear it with the standard TAG watch faces. The hardware is strong enough on its own.

And honestly? It just looks cool.

What Comes Next

I’ll be using it properly over the next 3–4 weeks:

  • Daily wear comfort
  • Battery life in real-world use
  • F1 race weekend integration
  • Whether the novelty fades… or deepens

A full ownership review will follow once the honeymoon period settles.

For now?

I’m stoked.
